Slow-fashion: Sustainability in every shoe

Choosing footwear models that follow sustainable guidelines helps to care for and improve the environment.

Taking the step towards a sustainable purchasing model is not easy, because in everyday life there are too many distractions that will make you buy from industries that do not follow very ecological or moral processes.

The fashion sector is the second most polluting industry in the world. Fashion products account for 10% of the world’s carbon emissions and more than 85% of textiles go to landfill each year. But this is just the tip of the iceberg, as the conditions under which certain companies produce their garments are not morally correct either… all this leads to a model called fast-fashion, where in addition to fulfilling all the aspects mentioned above, the clothes produced have a very short life span. It is produced in large quantities, in order to sell quickly, at a competitive price and after a short time this garment is no longer valid and is discarded.

In order to try to stop this phenomenon and in contrast to fast-fashion, slow-fashion has emerged. In this production model, high quality, natural materials are used, which have a minimal impact on nature and generate little or no waste. The result of making shoes with these materials is a shoe with a long life, resistant and durable.

Slow fashion aims to achieve slower consumption and production, but with all the characteristics of sustainability. The focus is on quality and durability, rather than quantity and speed.

Also, an aspect to take into account in the production and consumption model of slow fashion is to produce and consume timeless products that can be useful today and in ten years’ time.

Do not hesitate to opt for a more sustainable production and consumption model, as you will be doing your bit for a more sustainable and ecological world.
